San Francisco doesn't lack bars.
It lacks the table.

What it lacks is the table that makes strangers feel like guests at the same dinner party. We built Hungry Tables to be that table — one long one, in one room, one block from Moscone.

One long table, on purpose.

The room sits at 257 3rd Street, one block from Moscone Center, and it's built around one long communal table — 38 seated, 60–90 standing. These days it's a private event space: companies take the whole room for receptions, offsites, launches and dinners, with our own bar and kitchen behind it.

The format is intentional: a dinner party where the person across the table might be your next collaborator, your next client, or your next friend. Come hungry, leave connected.

What's actually in the room.

One open room No dividers, no second party, no overflow area. Whoever books it has all of it.
38 seated · 60–90 standing Seated at one communal table, or cleared for a standing reception.
One block from Moscone 257 3rd Street, SoMa — walkable from the convention centre and most of the conference hotels.
The lantern ceiling Copper and glass, hung the length of the room. It is the reason the photographs look like they do.
The art wall A run of large-format pieces along one side, which gives a talk or a toast a backdrop that is not a blank wall.
AV as standard HDMI and a microphone, with upgrades available. Enough for a demo or a short programme.

Bar and kitchen, both ours.

You don't need to bring a caterer, and you can't bring a bar. Both are in the building, which is the whole reason one team can answer for the whole evening.

Coffee cocktails and zero-proof

Beer · wine · sake

Alongside the cocktails, under the same ABC Type 41 license. That license covers beer, wine, sake and soju — which is why every spirit on this menu is soju-based, and why there is no whisky or vodka list.

Three nights, three menus

Real dinners, from the printed menus. Wine is poured by the course, and dietary needs are flagged on the menu at each seat rather than handled quietly in the kitchen — which is what a guest with an allergy actually wants.

Autumn Family style, four mains Lavash crisps, house-made dips and seasonal produce to start, with brandade crostini and smoky greens bites. Then persimmon salad with baked chèvre, fig and tapenade. Mains served family style: braised chicken thighs with quince and fennel; roasted halibut with cranberry pistachio gremolata; white bean cassoulet with winter squash and a herbed hemp crust; charred vegetable polenta. Pumpkin cardamom crème brûlée with spiced pecans to finish.
Early spring Coursed and plated A welcome bite of brandade crostini with sumac pickles, then mixed greens with pink lady apples, Meyer lemon vinaigrette and almonds. Roasted black cod on spring risotto with asparagus and salsa rustica, or braised short ribs with fava purée, pickled fennel and pomegranate molasses, alongside creamy polenta and charred late-winter vegetables. Cardamom chocolate pot de crème with hazelnut praline.
Spring A shared table Seared crusted tuna with harissa aioli on fried rice paper, and crostini with tobiko butter, shaved radish and microgreens. Baby gem salad with grilled halloumi, melon, preserved lemon and almond gremolata. Family style: braised beef over fava purée with stone fruit chutney; roasted black cod with tapenade, smoked paprika potatoes and peppers; braised chickpea and vegetable tagine with millet and herbed labne. Konafa tart with pistachio cream and orange blossom, and chocolate-covered halwa.

Passed at receptions

For rooms where everyone is standing and nobody wants a plate. Meat, seafood, vegetarian and vegan all sit on the same tray, so a guest with a restriction is eating the same canapés as everyone else rather than waiting on something separate.

The food, by Hungry Kitchens

Arriving as strangers,
leaving as friends.

Every decision in this room serves one idea: people talk differently when they are at the same table. Not a floor of separate tables, each party sealed inside its own conversation — one long one, where the person beside you might be the reason you came back.

The food and the bar are how we get you to stay long enough for it to happen. What we are after is the conversation you did not expect to have, with someone you had not met an hour earlier.
